Parkway is 100 person team of electricians, technicians, engineers, estimators, project managers, warehouse staff, operations management, CAD designers, panel shop builders and office staff.

We specialize in Power, Communications, and Controls, combining these three because GC’s prefer to have these services provided by a single company.

In all three of our specialty areas, we offer the full range of services from design and build to repairs and maintenance.

Our primary goal as a company is to foster long-term relationships built on strong work and trust.

Parkway started in 1945 when power plant operator, Elton Achterhof started wiring local homes and businesses. By 1958 Achterhof had partnered with Casey Oonk and had eight employees and a thriving business.

To keep customers satisfied, Achterhof and Oonk insisted on an educated workforce. They encouraged employees to attend seminars and classes, many of them held at Parkway. They also insisted on strenuous apprenticeships.

The high standards paid off. By 2001, the Parkway team had grown to over 100.

In 2002, Parkway strengthened its position in the market further by becoming a part of the Huizenga Group.

Today they enjoy a reputation as one of West Michigan’s strongest electrical companies.

Our formula for success is pretty simple.

1. Relationship. This is about giving. Giving clients what they want. It means finding the best solution possible based on the client’s wants and restraints.

2. Reliability. This isn’t what it used to be. Doing the same job at the same high level of quality is the old reliability. The new reliability is about having the ability to give clients the latest and greatest in ways that look great and work perfectly and easily.

3. Reputation. Try to recall the last time you heard a Parkway radio spot, or saw a Parkway billboard. Good luck. Our marketing is about 95% reputation. Nearly all of our business comes from repeat customers and referrals. In other words, we need to make you happy to stay in business.

In 2002 we joined a conglomerate of strong, reputable companies that make up the Huizenga Group.

These companies share certain financial resources and efficiencies while maintaining independence and their separate identities.
